Christian Party Leader to Stand in
Haltemprice & Howden

Christian Party leader and former Campsfield House Detention Centre associate chaplain, Revd George Hargreaves is standing in the Haltemprice and Howden by-election.

Revd Hargreaves who was also Chair of the Metropolitan Police Service’s Stop and Search Community Consultative Committee in the wake of 7/7 is asking the Haltemprice and Howden electorate to use their vote to demand a referendum on the European Union, which he believes in the greatest threat to our civil liberties.
The decision to stand came after a telephone poll of over 4,000 electors in the constituency.  “Almost three out of four respondents voted for the Christian Party to stand in the by-election.”, noted Revd Hargreaves. The poll took place all day Saturday and on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

Revd Hargreaves added, “I started in politics with Sir James Goldsmith’s Referendum Party back in 1996.  Twelve years later we still have not had a referendum on Europe.  Now with the Lisbon Treaty ratified by the Labour Government, and only the Irish ‘No Vote.” saving us, we must make our voice heard.  Haltemprice and Howden by-election is the place for such a noble endeavour.”

Revd Hargreaves has posted an address on You Tube explaining why he is standing.

The Christian Party are to stand candidates in next year’s European Union elections.   Party leader, Revd George Hargreaves unveiled his party’s plans on the opening day of the Christian Resources Exhibition at Sandown Park, Esher.

Revd Hargreaves said, “There are some extremely serious issues relating to the European Union that must be fearlessly tackle with the truth spoken in love.  If we do not, others will take up those same issues with lies spoken in hate.”

The main policy on which the Christian Party propose to contest the EU elections is the call for a free and fair binding referendum on whether the United Kingdom  should remain in or withdraw from the European Union.

Why a Christian Party

Why a Christian Party?
By Reverend Jonathan Williams

Two years ago the results of a nationwide church survey were published. It highlighted the need for Christians to stand up for their beliefs and resist the tide of secularism and immorality that is destroying our country. The report entitled ‘Help your church grow: let the people speak’, revealed that across the UK, people were increasingly alarmed at the moral and spiritual state of the nation and urgently wanted Christian leaders to break their silence, “stand up to be counted” and say “enough is enough.”

The aim of The Christian Party is to do this – with your help. It is a voice for Christian communities across the nation to ensure that the message of the Bible will be heard and heard where it matters!

Greater London Assembly Elections 2008

Image

The Christian Party and the Christian Peoples Alliance came together for an historic collaboration to contest the2008 Greater London Authority elections.  Although the joint-ticket did not succeed in winning a seat on the Greater London Assembly, they came 6th out of a field of 17, behind the British National Party who did win a seat.

Cllr Alan Craig, the leader of the Christian Peoples Alliance, stood as the Mayoral candidate for the joint campaign and polled almost 120,000 first and second preference votes.

On the London-Wide List the joint campaign gained over 70,000 votes.  However, the list campaign was hampered by the fact that election law prevented the two Christian parties from using their official joint description ‘The Christian Peoples Alliance and Christian Party’; instead the phrase ‘The Christian Choice’ had to be used.
