Christian Party Christian Peoples Alliance Warn
that Archbishops’ Statement Could Spell Victory for the BNP
In the wake of the unprecedented intervention of the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Archbishop of York in the EU election the Christian Party Christian Peoples Alliance have arranged for millions of leaflets to be delivered to voters warning against the BNP and providing tactical voting advice, as well as detailing the BNP’s racist policies. (See attachment.)
However, Revd George Hargreaves, Leader of the Christian Party has warned that the Archbishops’ intervention could actually backfire and facilitate a BNP win because of lack of understanding of the Proportional Representation system being used in the EU Elections.
Revd Hargreaves, who studied election law at Essex University and carried out research into Christian voting habits at the Centre for Politics and Religion at St Andrews University said, “I am grateful and fully supportive of the Archbishops’ good intentions. The BNP are real and present danger. Sadly, however, the Archbishops have only highlighted the problem without equipping voters with the knowledge that they need for the solution. It is simply not enough to ask people to vote will nilly for other parties, voters have to vote strategically to beat the BNP.”
“I commend the Archbishops for speaking out and support their courage fully, but as a trained psephologist (that is one who studies political elections) I see disaster in those good intentions. As it is said, ‘The road to hell is paved with good intentions.’ and ‘Too little knowledge can be worst than no knowledge at all.’
“We do not want to be looking at a re-run of Greater London Assembly elections, where 80,000 votes were wasted on the major parties – votes, which if given to the Christian campaign (or even the anti-congestion charge candidate) would have kept the BNP out of City Hall and Buckingham Palace garden parties.”
“The system is complex, but the simple answer is to vote for The Christian Party Christian Peoples Alliance because when you do the math it is clear that only a non-incumbent party can stop the BNP – not the major parties or even UKIP. The success of the major parties and UKIP in earlier rounds will leave them powerless to beat the BNP in the final round - That’s how the system works! The Christian Party Christian Peoples Alliance are in the best position to beat the BNP because the system makes it so. Christians and others of good will must be informed.”
